In addition to having fairly cheap it has been noted that HP printer ink is one of the cheapest brand name ink cartridges on the market. There are some differences in price depending on the type of printer that you are using but overall the costs are low. Most HP printers cost fewer than one hundred dollars and the ink cartridges for these printers can be purchased for about thirty to forty dollars.

When buying this type of ink you only need to worry about buying two cartridges. HP has created printers that take two cartridges, one black and one color. There are other printers on the market that sell there colored cartridges separately meaning that you have to buy a yellow cartridge, a magenta and cyan in order to get the color to work on your printer. HP has eliminated this hassle and has created one simple cartridge that contains all three colors. There are some stores that sell HP ink cartridges in package deals. Therefore, instead of buying three individual cartridges you might get a deal when buying three or more.

There are some disadvantages however to purchasing the colored ink for a HP printer. While having one cartridge seems easier, it can be quite costly if you are doing a great deal of colored printing as the colored cartridges cannot be refilled using a refill kit. The black cartridges however can be refilled numerous times. It says that you shouldn't refill the cartridge more than five times but HP cartridges are durable and can be refilled up to fifty times if done correctly. The color cartridges cannot because you are unable to see which color needs to be refilled. In most cases one of the colors will run out first but you cannot see into the cartridge to know which.
