When buying a new printer people often ask if a printer refill can be used rather than buying a new cartridge each time the old one runs out. The makers of the printer will stress the importance of using the brand name ink cartridges that have been made specifically for that printer. There are those manufacturers that try to frighten you into buying the brand name cartridge by telling you that can do serious damage to your printer if you don't use their ink. This is not the case, but of course there are some risks when you don't use the ink that has been designed for the printer.

One of the most popular generic refills is Fillz-All refill kit. It was made to suit most brand name printers. Each kit can be used approximately ten times depending on the size of your ink cartridge. These kits come in both black and color but you might not be able to fill your colored cartridge if there is only one cartridge for all colors. In each kit you will find everything that you need. The kit contains a thirty milliliter bottle of ink, cleaning solution, gloves and so on. It is very important to wear the gloves if you are inexperienced with using these refill kits as they can stain your clothing and skin if spilled.

Each brand name printer also has its own refill kit as well. These kits are more expensive but if you are worried about using a generic brand in your printer than you might want to stick to the ink that matches your printer. Once again, there is no way to guarantee that this ink will not damage your printer. You need to be very careful when filling your ink cartridge as to not put too much ink into the cartridge which can ruin your printer.
