Printer Toner

There is a drastic difference between printer toner and inkjet printer cartridges. The biggest difference is the price. If you are looking for the best buy for your money than you should invest in a laser printer rather than an inkjet printer. However, if you are not concerned about the quality of printing than you might be satisfied with getting a simple inkjet printer.

Most people don't know the difference however between a laser printer that runs on toner rather than an inkjet printer that takes an ink cartridge. Toner is a powder that is commonly used in both laser printers and photocopiers. When toner was first introduced it was called carbon powder in the early days. The quality of printing that was produced was not the greatest and efforts were made to improve the printing quality. Therefore a polymer was added to the carbon. This helped the toner bind to the paper quicker and easier producing better quality print.

There is the misconception that all toner for your printer is the same. Like inkjet cartridges, there are different types of toners that can be purchased for different laser printers. Each manufacturer will produce a different quality of toner. There are some generic brands that can be purchased as well that will not produce the same quality of printing as the brand name toners. It is very important that you buy the correct toner for your printer as you could damage your printer if the toner does not match the printer. This could cost you more than the price of the toner as you may have to replace the entire printer.

The great thing about toner is that it can be washed off the skin using warm water and soap. If you are using inkjet cartridges and you get any on your skin or clothes it could stain. There are some toners however, that when mixed with warm water it softens the toner and therefore making it fuse to the skin. It may take a few hours for this toner to wear off but it eventually will.
